1874 Gras Bayonet with the following inscription noting the arsenal, month, and year of manufacture on the back-edge of the blade(opposite the bottom cutting edge) :
"Mre d' Armes de St.
Etienne Mars 1874"
Cross guard / Quillon is steel with FG 3989 inscribed, upper guard is the muzzle-ring, lower guard forms a hooked "blade-breaker".
Blade has a number "3" inscribed near the handle
Brass pommel has an integral latching mechanism (push-button/spring-steel) still functional
Blade measures approximately 22 3/4 inches from point to Cross guard / Quillon
Grip measures approximately 4 1/8 inches
Cross guard / Quillon (from "point side" to "pommel side" ) measures approximately 7/16 inches wide
