The Clinton Early Learning Center (CELC) is seeking a dynamic and flexible individual who will primarily work for our School-Age Child Care (SACC) with children between 5-12 years old but will also float in our Early Learning Center, with children ranging from 3 months to 5 years old and help where needed when the School Age Program is not in session (during the school year between 9am and 2:30pm).
The 8-hour shift will range between 7:30am to 5:30pm.
You will be with the Before Care program until 9am, at the Early Learning Center from 9am to 2:30pm, and at 2:30pm you will join the After-Care Program.
The SACC program offers various vacation camps when the Clinton Central School District is not in session, and Summer Camp in July and August.
You will work fully with the SACC program during those weeks.
The person we are looking for must be warm, caring, responsible, and reliable.
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Individuals must display a positive, upbeat attitude and have a strong ability to work with a team.
Caring for children is done in a way that provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment in which the children can progress in all four areas of development: social/emotional, physical, language, and cognitive.
Responsibilities of this position include - but are not limited to: * *Respectful Interaction with Children* - CELC teachers are required to interact with children, engaging in meaningful conversations and activities, assisting with homework, and helping children solve problems.
* CELC teachers are responsible for setting clear, consistent, and fair limits within the scope of the New York State School Age Child Care Regulations, OCFS and CELC policies in regard to developmentally appropriate practices.
* *Respectful Interactions with Families *- CELC teachers must have good communication skills and must be able to establish positive relationships with all families who utilize the program.
* CELC teachers must be able to convey information regarding children to families in an appropriate and professional manner, while at the same time, maintaining confidentiality.
* *Respectful Interactions with Colleagues *- CELC teachers must be able to work effectively on a team and communicate with each other to ensure a happy and safe program for all children.
* *Curriculum Development* - Before & After school teachers will be able to create a balance of active and quiet activities.
In the Early Learning Center, the curriculum will be implemented under the guidance of the Lead teachers.
* *Professionalism* - CELC teachers are expected to learn and follow all New York State School Age Child Care Regulations, OCFS, and CELC Personnel Policies and Procedures.
CELC teachers are expected to participate and attend all staff meeting and complete the mandatory training hours required by New York State.
* *Additional Responsibilities *- CELC teachers must maintain a safe and clean environment free from hazards, assist with setting up the space before the program begins and cleaning up the space at the end of the day.
*Qualifications*: * Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and a desire to advance education in Early Childhood or related field.
A College degree in early childhood preferred.
* at least 1 year of experience working with school age children.
Experience that qualifies candidates can include, but is not limited to - student teaching, camp counselors, and before and after school teachers.
* Must meet the requirements set forth by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
Clearance includes but is not limited to a Criminal Fingerprint Check and approval through the New York State Child Abuse Registry.
* Must have a Tuberculosis test and a physical exam, completed on Clinton Early Learning Center's form before working with children.
* Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
* CPR & First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
* MAT training or willingness to obtain.
* NOTE: Childcare Experience MUST be reflected on your resume This position is full-time and starts immediately.
Job Type: Full-time Salary: starting at $14.
20 / hour.
The hourly rate will increase based on degrees, credentials, experience.
