96 per Hour JOB FUNCTION: The Teacher will work collaboratively with the classroom team, this includes parent(s)/guardian(s), families, volunteers, and other classroom staff to ensure the successful operation of classroom to implement the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Teacher will provide direct and competent supervision to ensure the safety and security of children at all times in accordance with Head Start, NY State Office of Children and Families regulations and supports MVCAA, Inc Supervision of Children policy in the classroom, during outdoor experiences and field trips.
The Teacher ensures that the classroom and outdoor area is in compliance with NYS OCFS Regulations and Performance Standards.
The Teacher establishes positive, healthy, and professional relationships with families.
The Teacher attends to the physical needs of the children (diapering, toileting, feeding, resting, rocking and holding children).
The Teacher implements a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children and supports children in progression of School Readiness Goals and objectives.
The Teacher provides children with a consistent classroom routine in accordance with the Creative Curriculum.
The Teacher is responsible to have effective interactions with children in accordance with the CLASS observation tool (Head Start classrooms only.
) The Teacher is responsible for development and implementation and display of lesson plans in cooperation with parents/guardians/families.
The Teacher is responsible for completion of developmental and behavioral screenings on all children within 45 days of child’s entrance into program, utilizing results for individualized planning and referrals as needed.
The Teacher is responsible for working in partnership with parents/guardians/families to develop an individual plan for each child including goal setting based on identified needs and activities to meet established child outcomes.
The Teacher integrates Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) for children with documented disabilities.
The Teacher collects and records children’s progress to complete accurate assessments at 3 or 4 points in the year and individualize curriculum.
The Teacher analyzes classroom level child outcome data report and implement a plan to promote greater outcomes for children in partnership with parent(s)/guardian(s)/families.
The Teacher addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine the possible causes of the behavior, implementing preventive developmentally appropriate measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills and partnering with families to support the child at home.
The Teacher participates in meals with the children as a curriculum activity, to model good nutrition and developmentally appropriate social skills for children age birth to 5.
The Teacher identifies and encourages families wanting to volunteer in the classroom, work as substitutes or in other volunteer activities to the Human Resource office.
The Teacher secures substitutes for all absences.
The Teacher supervises, trains, delegate’s tasks and evaluates Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, volunteers, substitutes and interns within the classroom.
The Teacher completes custodial duties not provided by the lease agreement.
The Teacher understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs toward the non-federal share requirement.
The Teacher demonstrates commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
The Teacher understands and supports MVCAA Inc.
Supervision of Children policy.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the successful execution of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: HS Teacher – Must possess an Associate, Bachelor or Advanced degree in Child Development, or Early Childhood Education EHS Teacher – Minimum of a current Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential AND Two years of experience caring for children, one on which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers: or preferably Two (2) year degree in Early Childhood Education plus one (1) year specific training and/or experience in infant/toddler Universal Pre-K Teacher – Must possess a current New York State Preschool Certification Center Director – Bachelor or Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education, one year full-time teaching experience in a child care center, and 1 year of supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work.
Ability to travel to all sites, trainings and home visits as necessary and required Able to communicate with children and families as well as maintain accurate records.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy Adheres to agency personnel policies and procedures Attends trainings and meetings as required Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation Knowledge and experience working with families and children with low income and diverse cultures Background check, fingerprint screen, physical exam and TB Must be able to move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to move throughout classroom, building, gross motor areas, and outside venues during a field trip.
Must be able to interact with children at the child’s level.
