The Billing & Receivables Coordinator is responsible for managing/coordinating the various financial processes within the facility
with a focus on accounts receivable, collections, and the billing related to patient services, insurance claims, and
reimbursement.
Overall responsibility to ensure timely, thorough, and accurate resident billing.
The role also requires
knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Private Pay, and other insurance billing, including how to obtain authorizations.
The
Billing & Receivables Coordinator plays a vital role in maximizing revenue and maintaining compliance with billing regulations.
This may include but not limited to:
Billing & Receivables Coordinator is responsible for Insurance Billing (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and any other source that may come along including Private Pay)
Sending out resident statements and collecting due payments, accounts receivable, petty cash, resident trust, upholding and adhering to all regulations policies and procedures pertaining to the resident’s moneys/trust account.
Month end closing and census information communication
Insurance/Payer follow ups including follow up on outstanding denials and payments
Monthly, quarterly, yearly, and ad hoc reports
Audits
Rate changes
Cash receipt posting and bank deposits
Charge entries
Make appropriate updates in medical records and/or billing system
Authorizations and sending clinical documentation or related/requested supporting documentation for continued authorization.
Insurance verifications
Send revised or updated resident bills with reflecting correct insurance information.
Daily census changes and related communication, documentation, and billing updates.
Making changes in the billing software for new payers, plans, and anything that affects billing.
Communicate any discovered, current, or foreseeable billing concerns, payment issues, and/or outstanding accounts to the appropriate parties including the Administrator and Ownership.

Requirements:
Associate degree in finance, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
Relevant years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience in skilled nursing facility billing, required.
Must have demonstrated experience in billing Medicaid, Medicare, and HMO/Insurances/Commercial Billing.
Experience in monitoring and execution of collections and accounts receivable.
Experience in inputting of census information into billing and clinical software.
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in billing Medicaid, Medicare, and HMO/Insurances/Commercial Billing.
Strong knowledge of billing regulations, coding systems, and reimbursement processes.
Position requires knowledge of basic accounting practice, PDPM, billing coding, the appeals process, and UB04’s.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in using billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of financial procedures in all aspects of skilled nursing facility operations
Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and manage time.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
