Job Summary:
As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Oneida Health's Outpatient Therapy office, you will work under the supervision and instruction of a qualified physical therapist.
Your responsibilities include assisting with patient care tasks, setting up treatment areas and equipment, recording charges, communicating with staff, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Candidates will receive on-the-job training in physical therapy-related duties and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for treatment and accompany them to treatment areas as needed.
Set up and maintain physical therapy treatment areas and equipment according to the physical therapist's direction.
Assist patients with exercise movements and changes in positions during treatment sessions.
Record charges for each patient's billing and enter data into the computer system, ensuring accuracy.
Communicate regularly with appropriate staff regarding patient care and scheduling.
Assist patients with their maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Clean, repair, and maintain physical therapy equipment and supplies.
Help maintain inventory of physical therapy supplies and equipment.
Observe patients for safety and comfort, notifying the Physical Therapist or Assistant of any changes in condition.
Assist with restorative and rehabilitative treatments under the direction of the physical therapist or assistant.
Maintain treatment plan records within Medicare guidelines, including faxing, tracking, obtaining signatures, scanning, and filing care plans.
Assist with front desk tasks such as opening or closing the department, preparing schedules, answering phones, and maintaining business flow.
Maintain statistics of patients, visits, and charges.
Perform opening and closing procedures for the department.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
Experience:
2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
License/Certification:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
