This position handles claims predominantly in the New York with some Southern venues.
This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days/month in office after the onboarding period.
Office locations include New Hartford, NY, Buffalo, NY, Woodbury, NY, or Duluth, GA.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for thorough evaluation of coverage and proactive investigation, reserving, negotiating and managing the defense of more complex regional commercial general liability claims in multiple jurisdictions in accordance with Leading Practices.
Includes management of both litigated and non-litigated claims.
Independent coverage analysis to include drafting of comprehensive coverage position letters.
Attend mediations, trials and hearings as needed to include interaction with insureds, agents and legal representatives.
Review court decisions, law and coverage interpretations and is required to have a broad knowledge and understanding of the law and claim practices.
Negotiate claims in a fair & timely manner.
Manage expenses.
Ability to work independently and serve as a mentor to lesser experienced team members.
Operate on an independent basis with little supervision, settlement of claims within assigned authority.
Education/Licenses:
4-year degree in business administration or equivalent experience.
Acquired or ability to acquire state licenses as needed.
Experience:
5 years or more claim handling experience handling commercial GL preferred.
Salary range: $72,200-$108,200
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
