Job Description:
Residential Care Aides are unlicensed, non-professional care team members who are supervised by Cedarbrook Case Management personnel.
The Residential Care Aide (RCA) is a member of the care team working under the guidance and supervision of the Case Manager responsible for assessing needs of the residents as well as working with other members of the team.
The RCA duties may be adjusted at the discretion of the supervising Case Manager based on the evaluation of the Resident's needs and the ability of the RCA to perform such tasks.
The RCA is expected to continue developing his/her skills and abilities in the function he/she performs to ensure person-centered Resident care is always provided.
Duties:
After completing of the required training, RCA staff may provide the following services to Enriched Housing Program Residents:
Medication Observation
Environmental Cleaning
Meal support
Bathing support
Skin Care
Grooming
Toileting
Using Medical Supplies and Equipment
Safety and Accident Prevention
Provide services that are permissible including:
- Help with the use of appliances, i.
e.
, wheelchair, walker, crutches, hearing aides as demonstrated as deemed permissible by scope of tasks;
- Cue and remind the resident for meals, activities, toileting, and as needed.
Light housekeeping duties to maintain a healthful, safe environment including the following:
- Laundry for resident and bed linen changes as assigned;
- Clean refrigerator and food inspections as assigned;
- Pick up trash/waste as assigned;
- Clean resident equipment as assigned.
RCA staff may only provide Medication Observation services to Assisted Living Program (ALP) Residents under the supervision of the EHP Program Coordinator.
RCA staff may not provide activities of daily living services to those Residents enrolled into the Assisted Living Program (ALP) of Cedarbrook.
The RCA promotes the resident's mental alertness through conversation, reading, games and other activities.
Reports to the supervising Case Manager any changes in resident's mental or physical condition to the nurse responsible for the care of the resident.
Gives simple emotional and psychological support to the resident as needed.
Records completion of assigned duties accurately in the resident's personal care logs.
Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.
Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.
Performs any other duties assigned by the Case Manager and/or Enriched Housing Program Coordinator as deemed permissible within the regulatory scope of functions and tasks.
Requirements:
Hourly Rate: $15/hr
Qualifications:
The Residential Care Aide must complete all required training provided by Cedarbrook prior to carrying out assigned activities.
Be 18 years of age.
Shall be able to speak, read and write English and speak the predominate language of residents.
Understand and carry out directions and instructions, record messages and keep simple records.
Sympathetic attitude towards providing services for residents.
Have a good physical health as indicated by documentation in the personnel file.
Participate in 12 hours of in-service education per year as required by NYS regulations.
Complete 40 hours of direct care training plus a minimum of an additional 10 hours of Medication Observation training.
