Job Summary
Under the direction of the Charge Nurse, The Monitor Technician performs clerical and public relation duties within each nursing unit.
Working directly with all members of the nursing unit and indirectly with other ancillary departments, physicians, patients, and their families.
Core Job Responsibilities
Identify patients and pertinent patient records prior to performing interventions or care
Perform computer operations
Perform the following to include but not limited to telephone/pager functions fax/copier intercom/nurse call systems assignment boards/sheets
Demonstrates accuracy, skill and timeliness in clerical duties to include but not limited to, assembly and maintenance of charts documentation of clinical data posting of clinical data (i.
e.
telemetry strips, lab reports) order transcription interdepartmental scheduling of patient activities maintenance of unit specific logs
Maintains adequate inventory levels of forms, materials and supplies
Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of rhythm analysis course and pass test within 6 months of hire
PREFERRED:
Preferred experience as a unit secretary and/or completion of certification course for unit receptionist/secretary
Background in Medical Terminology
Previous unit receptionist experience
