Job Summary
Under the clinical direction and administrative supervision by the Behavioral Health Supervisor/Director of Behavioral Health, responsible for providing individual and group therapy, psychological/social service, and some discharge planning functions for the inpatient psychiatric unit.
Core Job Responsibilities
Provide assessment, counseling and mental health services for patients as ordered by physicians; Provides behavioral health assessments.
Utilize an appropriate combination of short-term individual, and group therapy approaches to resolve or ameliorate symptomotology;
Collaborates with the physicians as necessary during the course of treatment and makes recommendations for appropriate illness specific treatment interventions to develop patient-centered treatment plans, and safe discharges using the most current edition of Best Practices Guild lines.
Ensure proper services and education are in place to accomplish this goal;
May perform a discharge summary and assist with referrals to other behavioral and/or medical providers as necessary during the course of treatment and for appropriate aftercare.
Completes required medical record documentation on a timely basis; and participates in the Quality Management Plan for the inpatient/outpatient services;
Provides supervision and training to Masters level interns as assigned;
Attends and participates in Health System’s and/or community related activities.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), OR Mental Health Counseling (MHC) from Accredited Graduate Program
Excellent communication and organizational skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to function in a collaborative environment.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
NYS LMSW License within 6 months of hire date required
