DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This supervisory position exists in a wastewater
treatment plant and involves responsibility for installing, maintaining, and repairing highly technical electrical
equipment including low and medium voltage electrical devices.
The incumbent works under the general
supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Superintendent, or Wastewater Treatment
Plant Maintenance Supervisor in the absence of the Superintendent and is allowed considerable leeway in
determining work methods and procedures.
Supervision is exercised over the Wastewater Treatment Plant
Electrician and any other helpers assigned to specific projects.
The incumbent performs related work as
required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at time of application.
Either:
(A) Possession of Associate's Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or electrical service
technology AND possession of a Journeyman Electrician certification AND four (4) years of
experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of electrical equipment, control systems
and/or instrumentation equipment in an industrial setting; OR
(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND possession
of a Journeyman Electrician certification AND six (6) years of experience in the installation,
maintenance and/or repair of electrical equipment, control systems and/or instrumentation
equipment in an industrial setting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of application.
License must remain valid throughout appointment.
NOTES:
1.
Candidates MUST submit with application a copy of transcripts showing degree area and date
degree conferred, if qualifying under (A).
2.
Candidates MUST submit with application a copy of Journeyman Electrician certification, if
qualifying under (B).
3.
Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national,
or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.
S.
Department of
Education/U.
S.
Secretary of Education.
If the degree was awarded by an educational institution
outside the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of
equivalency.

4.
Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
