Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is looking for a Project Manager to join the Facilities Design & Construction staff, supporting capital funded construction projects.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Work with the State University Construction Fund (SUCF), Office of General Services (OGS), architectural and engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, applicable State and regulatory agencies and the Campus community to coordinate and manage design and construction projects on Campus.
Coordinate with all stakeholder groups including facilities trades, faculty and staff to make certain related planning, design and construction activities are meeting the goals and objectives of the Campus.
Provide project management and site representative duties including inspecting the work, coordination and management of owner provided work and action items, project documentation, project record keeping and electronic file management, change management, attending and/or conducting meetings and taking minutes, crafting requests for proposals, review of cost proposals and schedules, and preapproval of payment applications.
Familiar with building codes and reference standards.
Coordinate with campus purchasing office to bid and award contracts and to issue purchase orders in conformance with SUNY purchasing requirements.
Complete required field investigations and document program needs and scope of projects under consideration.
The Project Manager's concentrated efforts shall be on ensuring that project design aligns with Campus standards and construction is in conformance with the contract documents with no long-term negative impacts to the Campus from construction activities.
It is essential to plan and anticipate potential problems and work toward prevention while maintaining communication with all stakeholders.
This position will require strong oral and written communication skills.
Occasional travel to college properties is required as needed.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or similar field and 3 years of progressive experience in higher education or commercial project design and/or construction as a designer, project manager, coordinator, director, owner's representative, superintendent, or industry expert OR an Associate's Degree and 10 years of progressive experience as noted above Proven experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications for higher education or commercial projects of at least $5M per project and involving several disciplines.
Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License for New York State.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with design of building systems, envelopes, mechanical systems and/or electrical systems.
Experience as a construction project manager or superintendent, planning and directing construction activities.
Experience managing construction budgets, reviewing cost proposals and change order requests.
Budget estimating and project scheduling skills (including related software).
Specification writing experience.
AutoCAD 2008 (or higher) and/or REVIT software proficiency.
Bluebeam Revu proficiency.
Specific training, certifications or working knowledge of NYS Building; Codes, National Electrical Code and other reference standards.
Experience developing projects from concept through closeout.
Professional license in engineering or architecture.
PMP or certified construction manager certification.
Code Enforcement Official (CEO) certification or similar codes training.
